California has enacted the "Safer from Wildfire" act, which requires insurers to provide discounts for being a resident of a Firewise Recognized community.  This Safer from Wildfires act also requires insurers to provide discounts for specified home hardening and defensible space actions, such as for having a Class A roof, ember resistant vents, double paned windows, and other items listed by the California department of insurance.

Some insurers may accept your self-declaration of being a member of a Firewise community if you provide the Ladera Firewise Certificate.   If possible, send the insurer the Firewise certificate for Ladera as well as the map of Ladera, which will show you as a resident of the community.

NFPA, which administers Firewise USA,  provides the actual addresses of each home in the community to insurers only twice a year in March and October.  Insurers may require you to wait for your address to appear in the NFPA Firewise address list starting October 2025.

As of May 21, 2025, at least one Ladera resident has obtained a discount by providing both the Firewise certificate and the addressed map of Ladera, both available for download below:
